Quantum closurewould be furtherblow to the NW

West Tyrone MLA Michaela Boyle says if Quantum Hosiery in Strabane closes it will mark another blow to the textile industry in the North West.

She claimed Quantum - based in the old ‘Adria’ factory - was set to re-locate jobs to England.

“This is another massive blow for Strabane. I am absolutely devastated for the workers and their families.

“I know some of the workers personally and I am truly saddened by the news. It appears as though this is the final nail in the coffin for the old Adria site as the last workers from Adria go.

“It is now important that the needs of the workers are paramount as they face an uncertain future.”

She claims to have written to Quantum in conjunction with Pat Doherty MP asking them to re-think.

“We have also requested a meeting with the head of InvestNI to receive an update on the Strabane business park which remains empty.

“It is vital that we start to benefit from this site by infrastructure being put in place through inward investment, business expansion and most crucially the creation of new jobs.”
