Pup killed by arsonists

A YOUNG Traveller couple in Glenavy have been targeted for attack for the second time in a week.

The married couple lost all their belongings when their caravan was destroyed by arsonists last week and around 3.20am on Monday their white Transit van was also targeted and their three month old pet dog was killed. A woman who attempted to extinguish the fire was taken to hospital later for treatment.

SDLP Councillor Pat Catney condemned those responsible for again targeting a young couple: “This van had been parked on Main Street and I find it shocking that people would burn a van in a public place, displaying such a reckless disregard for human life.
