£50k milestone for Kilrea Hospice Group

Working tirelessly on behalf of the Northern Ireland, the group hold street collections, door collections and organise and participate in events to raise vital funds to support the work of this local charity.

Shelia Donnelly the chairperson of the Kilrea Hospice Support Group said; “We would like to thank everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts over the past five years and everyone that has helped us to raise this great amount for the these patients and their families.

“We are proud to support the Hospice and with the help and support of the local community we will hopefully continue to grow our fundraising total in the years to come.

“We would welcome anyone who would like to help fundraise for the charity and become a part of our Kilrea Hospice Support Group”.

John Phillips, Community Fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Hospice said; “Every year the Hospice needs £3 million from voluntary donations and legacies to continue providing specialist nursing care to patient and there families.

“We hope that this support will continue despite the challenging economic times we find ourselves in, because the demand for hospice care continues and sadly many more people will need our help in the coming months.

“We simply could not continue to run our services without the support of the public, groups and volunteers. Every £30 raised pays for one hour of specialist nursing care for a patient and we are relying on this support to continue our work”.

The group is seeking new volunteers from the Kilrea, Garvagh and Portglenone areas to help them to continue fundraising for the Hospice or why not come and support our next fundraising event;

Meanwhile the Annual Summer Dance will be held in the Manor House, Kilrea, on Saturday, June 28.

 Dancing will be from 9pm til late. Music is by “Rocking Robbins” Tickets cost £5 . Proceeds will be in aid of the NI Hospice Community Nursing Team .
