£500,000 kitchen scheme begins in Derriaghy

HOUSING Executive tenants in the Milltown Avenue and Belsize Road area of Derriaghy are getting new kitchens installed in their homes.

Work has recently started to replace outdated kitchens in 87 homes in a £500,000 scheme that is expected to take around six months to complete.

Commenting on the work, the Housing Executive’s Manager in Lisburn Antrim Street, Owen Brady, (below) said: “I am delighted that we are able to proceed with this work which will see £500,000 invested in much need kitchen improvements in Derriaghy.

“As well as providing tenants with new modern kitchen facilities, we are also upgrading the electrics in the kitchen, making alterations to the plumbing systems, and installing mains-powered smoke detectors to homes where these have not already been fitted.

“The work is being carried out by our partner contractor, Mascott Construction. We have discussed arrangements with the residents who had the opportunity to choose their own kitchen units. I am sure the residents will be delighted with their new kitchens when the scheme is complete.”
