£2.2m public realm scheme for town centre
The project, which is being part-funded by Larne Borough Council, will include the provision of new footways and kerbing, street lighting, street furniture, railings and planted areas.
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland paid a visit to the town last Wednesday, when he revealed his Department would be contributing up to £2m towards the total cost of the project.

“Schemes like this can transform the streetscapes and make them more attractive, encouraging people to stay a little longer and enjoy the atmosphere.”
During his visit, the minister also heard about the work completed on a number of other initiatives that were listed in the town centre masterplan, which was published in June, 2010.
He added: “I am really pleased that Larne is working hard to deliver the regeneration actions that were included in its town centre masterplan.”
