£1m swimming pool quandary
LARNE'S swimming pools could be out of commission until 2011, after the council announced plans to carry out major upgrades to the leisure centre.
The complex is to be extensively renovated as part of a 1 million project to improve leisure centre facilities. The work includes installation of high-performance, double-glazed tinted windows, as well as replacing the ceilings with brighter, energy efficient materials and improved lighting.
The pools are due to close to the public on or around Monday, April 19 and estimates for the reopening date range from September at the earliest to January, 2011 at the latest.
