President of Ireland to visit Corrymeela

A major conference at Corrymeela featuring representatives of political parties, academics and the business community will this weekend debate how social and political relationships within the island of Ireland will develop over the next ten years and particularly the implications of Brexit - AND will be addressed by the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins.

The conference is entitled ‘Living Well Together beyond 2016 - Building on the Past for a Better Future’ and is organised jointly by the Irish Association for Cultural, Economic and Social Relations and the Corrymeela Community.

The three-day event reflects the organisers’ concern that after a year of commemorations an examination is needed as to what kind of civic future lay ahead. The weekend will be a mix of keynote speakers, facilitated discussion and networking.

The conference will also be addressed (Saturday night) by the Irish President, Michael D Higgins, and by the eminent historian, Lord Bew.
