Praise for local winner of Environmental Youth Speak
Councillor Hanvey speaking about the success of the local public speaking talent, said: “It is excellent news that the Council area achieved a top spot at this Northern Ireland wide competition with local pupil Olivia.
“Her entry was very engaging and her interpretation of a waste superhero was memorable to all who heard her entry. The confidence that our young people achieve through competitions such as this is an important life skill, and one that will serve them well as adults.

“The hard work and dedication that pupils put into their Environmental Youth Speak entries is highly commendable and over the last few years Lisburn and Castlereagh have done very well in the finals.
“Well done Olivia for your excellent, winning delivery of a thoroughly researched presentation on ‘A day in the life of a Waste Super Hero’,” concluded Councillor Hanvey.
Olivia’s prizes included two vouchers, a Kindle, a trophy and a £500 cheque for her school.
