Withdrawal of threat welcomed
The withdrawal of the dissident threat against the Community Wardens in Londonderry has been welcomed by UUP Alderman Mary Hamilton.
Mrs Hamilton, who was attending a conference on behalf of the council at the time, said: “Unfortunately I was not able to be a part of the protest against the threat last week, but I was very much in support of the event and working behind the scenes to make the UUP’s and my own opinion known on the threat.
“I am delighted to learn that this threat has now been lifted. It must be a huge relief to the not only the wardens but also their families and co-workers in the Council as well as to all right-thinking people in the city.”
