Policing chairman hits out

SATURDAY'S bomb was a "coldly planned attack targeted at the police but with clearly no care for anyone else," said Policing Board Acting Chairman Brian Rea.

Mr Rea condemned those behind the explosive attack: "I join all those who have already voiced their condemnation of this deplorable attack and am grateful that these three children escaped from injury.

"The community have a right to be angry at the recklessness of those behind this incident and I would urge anyone with information on this attack or the subsequent disorder in Lurgan to bring it to the attention of the police."

Mr Rea also condemned the petrol bomb attack on the car of a member of Newry DPP.
