People dicing with danger on closed road
The Dunkirk Road in Waringstown remains closed due to a tree, blown down during the Boxing Day storms, resting precariously on a telephone wire.
Several motorists are ignoring the road closed signs and dicing with danger by driving under the overhanging tree.
According to Councillor Mark Baxter he’s been told by Roads Service that the tree is the responsibility of the land owner as it has not yet fallen on the road.
He said BT had been very slow to address the problem given that the tree is resting on their phone lines.
He added: “The worrying thing is nobody is abiding by the road closed sign.”
