The retailer announced at the start of the month that Parents and Kids Together (PAKT), part of Carrickfergus YMCA, is going to be its new Local Charity Partner and will receive 12 months funding and awareness support.

Representatives of the maritime area store will be visiting the PAKT summer scheme on Monday to reveal more details.

PAKT, which runs Glenfield and Woodburn programmes, involves parents and children in a wide range of activities, some of which are organised for the children, some for the parents and some for the family unit.

The visit is one of a number of family events Sainsbury’s has organised as part of its Summer Sorted campaign which is set to inspire parents with simple solutions on how to keep the children entertained.

Carrickfergus store manager Bea Cox said: “Our Summer Sorted campaign has a great range of ideas to help families get the most from their summer holidays. From discounts off popular local attractions to our in-store treasure hunt, there’s something for everyone.

“It’s the first time we’ve held a campaign like this and we hope it makes it easier for our customers to have a great summer”.

For younger shoppers, the outlet is set to hold an in-store treasure hunt. Families can pick up an activity pack giving children a checklist of all the characters they need to find. It has also teamed up with Nectar to help families have a budget-busting day out at a number of attractions and is providing a range of summer recipe ideas and inspiration to customers through an information station.
