Paralympic flame in Strabane
Speaking at the launch of the event, Strabane District Council’s Chairman Councillor Thomas Kerrigan said: “This is going to be a fantastic day out. We have lots of fun events and activities planned and I would encourage everyone to come to Strabane and get involved. I am so pleased that Strabane District has been chosen to celebrate the Paralympic torch relay which will help light the way to the Paralympics.”
At 10.30am on Saturday 25 August the Paralympic flame will leave Stormont, Belfast and arrive in Strabane at 12.30pm. A procession with the flame will leave Melvin Sports Complex in an open top car and travel into the town centre. The parade will include local children following the lantern with their own hand made lanterns.
