Blind eye turned to financial waste

THE lack of our sitting Unionist incumbents within the Council and the Stormont Assembly willing to clarify their position in their party election literature on the retention of a section of the Maze H-Blocks, including the hospital wing, as a memorial to the IRA hunger strikers who died there is somewhat disappointing.

This one issue demonstrates what is wrong with our current Local Government and Assembly members in Lagan Valley when they are either neutral or turn a blind eye to both financial waste and gifting IRA/Sinn Fein one of their main strategic objectives.

They have and are facilitating a republican agenda where tens of millions of hard earned tax revenue and government funds are being diverted to this so called Peace-Building at the Maze.

Whilst the United Kingdom in general and Northern Ireland in particular are experiencing severe austerity measures across all government departments it’s outright ridiculous that tens of millions are being channelled to this obnoxious project.

From my perspective I will be reflecting hard on who I will give my vote to on May 5.
