Northern Ireland weather alert sees forecasters warn of wind and rain

Severe gales and heavy rain are set to batter Northern Ireland tomorrow, the Met Office is warning.

A weather alert is in place from noon on Friday until 0700 on Saturday.

Forecasters say the strongest winds will hit here tomorrow afternoon.

“Southwesterly gales or severe gales are expected to affect much of Scotland and Northern Ireland during the second half of Friday.

The strongest winds will affect northwest Scotland at first then reach the Central Lowlands, southern Scotland and Northern Ireland late afternoon and evening,” the Met Office said.

They are also warning of prolonged periods of rain, especially in the west, and said drivers should take extra care.
