“I have said to you before that it may not be the worst thing for the club going down to Championship Two.

“We all know that they club is in a tough situation financially and that we are a very young team.

“However I’m hopeful that we can add some experience to the squad over the summer so we can compete at that level.

“We want to start winning games of football because that’s very important for the football club as a whole.”

Mullan doesn’t want to drop down to Championship Two just to another run of the mill side, he really wants to have a go.

“I want to go to that level and really have a go and compete with the teams at the top of the table.

“From my point of view that is going to take a lot of hard work from myself and my backroom team.

“I’m looking to go and compete in Championship Two and hopefully I can put a team together to do that.

“I don’t want to be a mid-table side, I want to go and have a real go and try to win the league.”

Mullan knows however that it will take everyone involved at the club to get behind the team to make sure they can compete.

“We have to go about things in the right way next season if we are to have any chance of coming straight back up.

“The sooner that everyone at the club realise that the better because everyone needs to buy into that.

“If we don’t put in what we need to from the start then we won’t get what we are looking for at the end of the season.

“That’s the simple reality of it, everyone needs to work hard, I can’t do it all on my own and I hope everyone will feel that same as me.”

Chairman David Young spoke of a season that had few highlights, but thanked all of the people who play their part in running the club, often without being appreciated.

“Of course this season was a disappointment because we got relegated from Championship One,” he said.

“We knew from the start of the season just how difficult it was going to be because we had a very young team.

“That was the situation we found ourselves in, we had hoped we would have had enough to avoid relegation but it wasn’t to be.”

Looking forward to next year however Young feels that there is certainly a more positive outlook for the club

“Of course I share the disappointment felt by the management team on relegation.

“However I feel there is a nucleus of good players within the squad that give hope for next season.

“If it could be kept together, plus add a few players to the squad then it would be a firm base for next season.”

The Chairman also made clear the intention that the club wanted to ensure that they came straight back up

“The club is going to make every effort to bounce straight back up next season because that would be the best option.

“We need to get out of Championship Two as quickly as possible because the longer you are down the harder it is.

“I do recognise that this will be no easy task but hopefully we can all come together to make it work,” he finished.
