New minister is Tribe of Judah biker

a NEW minister has been welcomed to the Methodist churches in Whitehead and Islandmagee.

Rev Gary D Millar, a native of Greenisland and past resident of Ballycarry, took up the post after being stationed there in July of this year along with his wife Susan and their two boys John and James.

Rev Millar has served across Ireland since leaving Edgehill College, Belfast, in 1997; working and living in Donegal, Glastry and for the past seven years in Tandragee and Markethill where he served as Chaplain to the Southern Area Hospice in Newry.

A keen biker, he may be found with his brothers from the Tribe of Judah Motorcycle Ministry at many biker events and gatherings that are held across the UK and Ireland throughout the year.

He said: “Methodism has always been about living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in society at large, not just sitting in ivory towers pointing fingers. The message of God’s love is unchanging and extends to all people in every situation.

“I look forward to working here close to my home, among people I know, and getting to know people I don’t.”

The Methodist Church in Whitehead meets on Sundays at 10:30am and in Islandmagee at 12:00pm – and is open to all.
