New business improvement scheme launch

The Investors in People Standard is the mark of excellence in management practice, with the 10 indicators set out in the framework being the ingredients for success in any organisation.

The programme, which is part-funded by LCCC and DEL, will offer SME’s located in the new Council area the opportunity to prepare for assessment against the Investors in People Framework.

IiP in NI is managed by the IiP National team who sit within the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES).

Speaking about the new programme Chairman of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s Development Committee, Alderman Allan Ewart, said: “This is a great opportunity for eight companies within the council area to work towards transforming their business performance in preparation for IiP assessment.

“The programme will lay the foundation for this internationally recognised standard.

“I would urge anyone who is interested in developing their business to get in touch with DEL and get on board with this exciting programme.”

Previous programme participant Martin Murray, from Staff Ireland, would encourage businesses in the area to consider joining: “Through a series of workshops, mentoring and ongoing email and telephone contact I received vital support to improve my business performance.

“Working on the programme I have learnt that investing in my employees is investing in my business and the help that I received through the programme has been invaluable.”

The programme includes five workshops, each with a focus on improving management practice in relation to Strategic Planning; Effective Management; Culture and Communication; Performance Management and People Development and tailored on-site consultancy support along with other supporting activities.

The charge for each participating organisation will be £550 and the deadline for any applications is next Friday June 26.
