New boost for 'Dark Hedges'

THE famous 'Dark Hedges' near Armoy has received another boost.

An image of a car driving down the middle of the distinctive tree-lined Bregagh Road features on the front page of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s Accommodation Guide and is also on the front page of the Tourist Board’s website.

The exposure is certain to increase the number of visitors to the ‘Hedges’ which are now one of the most photographed natural landmarks in Northern Ireland.

Tourists regularly visit the Hedges to take photographs even though there are no official sign posts to direct tourists. Under guidelines such signs can only go up if there are dedicated car parking spaces for visitors.

In the absence of the signs, tourist information officials in Ballymoney say the most calls they receive for directions is to the ‘Dark Hedges’.
