MLA hits out over yellow lines

LAGAN Valley MLA Basil McCrea has spoken out against Lisburn parking charges following the Ulster Star highlighting the plight of a man unfairly fined.

The fine comes after double yellow lines were not properly marked out, but Mr McCrea believes it is a much bigger problem affecting trade in the city centre.

Mr McCrea said: “The parking charges are choking off trade in Lisburn.

Traders and shoppers are constantly raising this issue with me.

“If we do not come to resolution on this, we will see the end of Lisburn City Centre as a place to shop.”

“The issue of parking charges is just one of many affecting Lisburn traders,” continued Mr McCrea.

“We must also consider other factors and listen to traders if we are to return Lisburn to its glory days as one of Northern Ireland’s top retail destinations.”
