Middleton calls on PSNI to arrest members of Easter colour party

Londonderry DUP MLA Gary Middleton has called on the PSNI to ensure that those involved in an illegal republican parade in Londonderry on Easter Monday are arrested.

He made the call after a colour party marched through the City Cemetery for a commemoration of the Easter Rising.

He said: “Once again a dissident republican parade has taken place without notification to the parades commission as required.

“This illegal march which made its way to the city cemetery involved individuals wearing paramilitary style clothing and emblems. I have been speaking with the PSNI both during and after this illegal activity had taken place.

“The PSNI have assured me that a robust evidence gathering operation was in place and that they will be investigating the matter further.

“I would call on them to ensure that this activity is fully investigated and that those involved are held responsible.”
