Man was ‘nasty’ to paramedics at town incident

Ian Roland, whose address was given as Glenfield Road, Lurgan, admitted disorderly behaviour on August 11 this year when he appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

A public prosecutor said police were tasked to the Glenfield Road to assist the ambulance service after the defendant had been asking paramedics about paramilitaries and murderers in the Lurgan area.

Roland was on bail pending appeal for another matter.

His solicitor said he did not have any recollection of the incident because he had a lot of alcohol on board.

A police officer told the court that the ambulance had been tasked to deal with someone else.

Roland was in the area and was abusive to them.

Roland, who was in the dock, asked what happened.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, told him ‘you were very nasty to them’.

She adjourned the case until September 9 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

She remanded him on his own bail of £500 with a complete and total ban on him consuming alcohol and a curfew from 7pm to 
6am.

Judge Kelly warned Roland that if there was any breach of the conditions his bail would be revoked and he would be remanded in custody.
