Man shot in both legs in 'horrendous attack'

DETECTIVES in Lisburn are appealing for information after a man was shot in both legs in the White Rise area of Lagmore on Tuesday night.

The 26 year old victim was picked up in the Ardcaoin area by three masked males in a light coloured car at approximately 11pm.

He was taken to the White Rise area a short time later (11.15pm) where he was shot in both legs.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn condemned the "horrendous attack".

"It is staggering to think that anyone could do this to someone" he said. "My thoughts are with the victim and I want to wish him a quick recovery from this deeply traumatic attack.

"People don't want violence or intimidation in our society and the sooner that the small minority of people intent on such actions realise this, the better. Anyone with information on this attack should contact police immediately so that those involved can be caught."

Police are appealing to anyone who observed the car in either area, witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Information about crime can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
