Man sent for trail on machete charge

A MAN alleged to have had an offensive weapon – a machete – in Albert Street, Lurgan, has been returned for trial.

Patrick Cawley (21), of Glenbawn Avenue, Dunmurry, was returned for trial to Craigavon Crown Court on March 12, from a preliminary enquiry at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Friday.

The charge alleged that he had the machete without lawful authority or reasonable excuse in a public place, namely Albert Street on June 1 last.
