Christopher Terrence Langmead (23), of Queen Street in the town, had been previously convicted of assaulting Jonathan Crawford and the case adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

A PPS lawyer said the incident happened around 5pm on June 20, 2014, when the defendant, who had been barred from the centre, was asked to leave by the guard.

She said Langmead refused to leave and within arm reach of the injured party told him: “I’m going to knife you.”

Counsel said Mr Crawford believed defendant would carry out the threat.

A defence barrister told the court that Langmead still maintained he had not made the threat.

He said the defendant he had been working for the past three years as a joiner and had not been back inside the centre since the incident happened.
