Work on the properties at Broad Street - a former derelict site - and Meeting Street, near the town’s police station, was completed a few months ago.

Robert Winton, of Winton & Co, Magherafelt, told the Mail he had been surprised by the level of public interest and demand for the properties, which were snapped up within six weeks of going on the market.

He believes it indicates an improvement in the residential and commercial property sectors in the Mid Ulster area.

The development at Broad Street comprises of two retails units on the ground floor along with eight ‘high specification’ apartments on the first and second floors.

“It was fantastic to see both retail units being secured so speedily, with Carmel McGuigan Opticians already relocated into this building and operational from the beginning of June,” said Mr Winton.

“Carmel McGuigan Opticians has expanded from their previous location in Magherafelt into this beautifully finished accommodation which provides welcoming and spacious reception and patient waiting areas. Along with a large area for dispensing frames to the front there are several consulting rooms to the rear.

“With the second retail occupier due to commence trading within the next month in this property, it is evident that Broad Street continues to be a desirable location for retailers and that prime retail accommodation is sought after in Magherafelt town centre.”

He said, in general, the demand for residential rental accommodation remained high.

Winton & Co are now marketing Magherafelt’s newest development of residential accommodation on Meeting Street.

‘Three Spires House’ comprises 11 apartments over three upper floors and is finished to a high specification throughout. Boasting spacious living accommodation and dedicated car parking, they are expecting the apartments to go fast.
