Local fire service spent £100k on scrap cars

THE fire brigade spent over £100k buying scrap cars in the Western Command area from seven different suppliers over the past five years.

The total expenditure was £101,265. The money was used to purchase scrap cars to be used in training.

Between September 2005 and October 2012 Alcorn Recovery, Hilltop Garage, Lakeland Recovery, Robert McDaid Carbreakers, Morrow Recovery, T-Met and Two Trees all supplied cars to the local fire service.
