'Legal high' put two men's lives at risk

TWO men were incapacitated and required medical attention at the weekend after taking a potentially lethal cocktail of drugs.

A mixture containing the legal amphetamine mephodrone is said to have rendered both men incoherent and foaming at the mouth and one was admitted to a rehabilitation unit.

Sinn Fein representative in East Antrim, Oliver McMullan, said their families were devastated by the effect the drugs had on the men, who are both in their twenties. He has called for a "more robust" approach to "these so-called legal highs" and urged inter-agency liaison to tackle what he regards as a growing drug problem in Larne.
