Latest: Contraband cigarettes worth £20K and £4k cash seized in Cookstown

A major haul of contraband cigarettes and tobacco and cash were seized by police from a property in the Cookstown area on Saturday

PSNI officers seized approximately £20,000 worth of contraband cigarettes and tobacco and £4,000 in cash.

Inspector Keith Hicks said: “Officers from Dungannon Crime Team carried out a planned search of a property in the Rathbeg area of Cookstown.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.”

He added: “Criminality can come in many different forms and has a negative impact on communities, including local businesses.

“I am confident that our proactive efforts here show that local police are committed to tackling crime and keeping people safe.”
