Larne supports Women’s Aid white ribbon campaign

MEN and women from across the Larne borough have added their names to the Women’s Aid White Ribbon Campaign pledging to support victims of domestic abuse.

Local staff have been gathering the signatures of many people they work with in the community including those from the PSNI, churches, council staff and schools.

All have pledged to “never to commit, condone or stay silent on violence against women” for the White Ribbon Charter.

The charter has been presented to the Assembly and will be displayed at the Women’s Aid office to demonstrate the support to people who use the organisation’s services and at its headquarters.

The international campaign was started by a group of men who believed more needed to be done to highlight their condemnation of violence against women.

Anyone experiencing domestic violence can access support from Women’s Aid by calling the 24 hour domestic violence helpline on 0800 917 1414.
