The theft took place in the early hours of Tuesday, June 9.

Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: “It is though that the theft was opportunistic but it has left the family upset and annoyed. One of the bicycles is army green in colour, the other white in colour with tiger print. It is thought that the bikes were stolen at around 1am.

“I would ask anyone who has saw similar bikes since the theft or has been offered similar bikes for sale to contact Larne police on the non-emergency 101. Also, please lock bicycles and other valuables such as lawnmowers or tools inside sheds or outbuildings. Criminals can often be opportunistic and selfish when it comes to the possessions of others. Please help us to put them on the back foot by locking all valuable items away.”
