Landlord faces charge
A LANDLORD is to face prosecution for alleged harassment and illegal eviction of a tenant.
Larne Borough Council has resolved to instigate legal proceedings against the unnamed property owner who, if convicted, could be jailed for up to six months and/or fined up to £1,000.
Councillors voted to pursue the case following an investigation by environmental health officers under the Rent (NI) Order 1978, which makes it an offence to deprive a tenant of a dwelling house which he or she occupies.
