Inspirational adventurer to inspire next generation of entrepreneurs

ADVENTURER and motivational speaker Mark Pollock will be the guest speaker at the signature event for the Council funded Graduate Into Business Programme.

Mark will address local entrepreneurs and the wider business community at this event taking place on Tuesday, November 20, at 4pm at the Civic Centre, Lagan Valley Island as part of the above programme and coinciding with Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Mark is no stranger to adversity, having lost his sight at the age of 22. Undeterred he went on to challenge himself physically and mentally in some of the harshest climates on earth, participating in the race to the South Pole, six marathons in seven days in the Gobi Desert and the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon.

However, in July 2010 the challenge chose Mark. In a tragic fall he broke his back and was left paralysed. He is now once again challenging convention, taking on the role of pioneer in spinal cord injury recovery and robotic technology.

With new challenges and events scheduled for 2013, Mark leads the way in showing us how we can achieve more, tackling our fears and conquering our limiting beliefs.

Chairman of the Council’s Economic Development Committee Alderman Jim Dillon welcomed Mark as the keynote speaker of the evening; “Mark is a true inspiration for all of us. His sheer determination is admirable and we are delighted he could be a part of the Graduate Into Business Programme and Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrations.”

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people, sharing ideas and addressing key issues to drive the next generation of business owners.
