Independent Orangeman had interests of all Loyal Orders at heart: Grand Master

The Grand Master of the Orange Order in Ireland has expressed regret at the passing of former First Minister of Northern Ireland and DUP leader, Ian Paisley.

Grand Master Edward Stevenson said: “Throughout his long and distinguished political career, Lord Bannside was a firm supporter and friend of Orangeism.

“He always retained a strong interest in the welfare of the Loyal Order and its history, as well as that of the Independent Orange Institution, with which he was more prominently associated.

“On behalf of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, I would like to offer the deepest condolences of the entire Institution to the Paisley family at this sad time.”
