'If in doubt turn it off'

COLERAINE Borough Council's Environmental Health Department has issued letters to all local businesses, following the suspected carbon monoxide deaths in Castlerock.

The letter re-enforces the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland’s public announcement about gas and includes the helpline number - 0800 0320 121.

Advice about carbon monoxide detectors is also given in the correspondence.

The advice, from the HSENI explains that detectors should include the European approval mark and should be installed, checked and serviced in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

The HSENI’s helpline is open from 8am to midnight.
