Homes evacuated after WW2 hand grenade discovery in Larne

Victoria Road in Larne has now reopened following the discovery of a World War Two hand grenade in the area.

Police closed the road this afternoon at its junction with Agnew Street, and motorists were advised to avoid the area by using alternative routes.

A number of homes were evacuated and Larne Leisure Centre facilitated affected residents.

However, the road was reopened after the grenade was found to be deactivated.
