Hillsborough retailers relieved as bomb alert fears averted
A car which had mounted the pavement and was left abandoned against the window of a house in Hillsborough earlier this week sparked a near bomb alert.
Officers were called after a report of an Audi Estate car abandoned against a residential home with its tail obstructing the flow of traffic on the road, at Lisburn Street, Hillsborough on Wednesday 15, January. at around 10.30.
Those in the area waited for around 45 minutes fearing an evacuation procedure, when police reported back to say the owner of the car had been located. Police further confirmed that the incident had occurred due to failure of an electronic hand brake on the car.
