Hillhall ladies enjoy special 65th birthday celebration

HILLHALL: Gilberry Fayre, a family run restaurant housed in a 150 year old schoolhouse situated on the Banbridge to Gilford road was the venue for the May meeting and sixty fifth birthday of Hillhall Women’s Institute.

The owner, Mr. Pat McAvoy, opened specially for the evening reservation and gave a demonstration with many helpful tips on making a strawberry roulade, helped by President Roberta Ferguson.

Members and friends then enjoyed a delicious meal finishing off with a slice of birthday cake.

The President read a poem which she had composed calling to memory friends and events from times past.

The competition was for a handbag mirror. The result was 1st S Swain; 2nd: B McIntyre and 3rd: B Beattie. The Birthday Flowers were presented to Katie Turner.
