Guide Dogs roadshow is coming to Lisburn

GUIDE Dogs for the Blind are holding a volunteer information roadshow on Thursday April 19 in the Bridge Community Centre in Railway Street.

Any individuals or groups who are interested are invited to drop in to for information on how to get involved any time between 1pm and 4pm. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of Guide Dogs staff and current volunteers.

The roadshow is an opportunity to meet local guide dog owners already benefiting from the charity’s work and talk to them about their involvement with the charity and the difference having a guide dog has made to their lives.

Jolene Moran Volunteer Development Coordinator from Guide Dogs said: “We’re looking for fundraisers, puppy walkers, volunteer drivers, branch secretaries and treasurers, collection box coordinators and sighted guides. You can volunteer as an individual, or become involved in our local fundraising team. Volunteering is fun and rewarding – you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially-sighted people.”

The charity is keen to raise its presence in the Lisburn area and gain support to strengthen the local fundraising team.

Guide Dogs are entirely funded by voluntary donations, and the charity needs support from volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people.

Anyone interested in volunteering or fundraising for Guide Dogs is invited to attend the roadshow or contact Guide Dogs’ Volunteering Team on 0845 371 7771 or by emailing [email protected]
