Frustrating match for Dollingstown

Dollingstown 0 Seapatrick 0

DOLLINGSTOWN failed to break down a well organised Seapatrick side on Saturday as a drab scoreless draw was played out at Planter's Park.

Having drawn their previous league game Dollingstown were searching for some end of season form ahead of the much anticipated Premier Cup Final on Easter Saturday.

Seapatrick themselves were desperate for points at the wrong end of the table and set out to frustrate the current league champions by defending deep for much of the game.

The home side dominated possession but despite some pretty football they lacked a creative spark for the second match in succession.

Their main threat was down the left with both Walker and Thompson keen to get forward early on.

Thompson in particular looked lively and he was unlucky not to score when a pass from Savage released the forward on goal only for the keeper to make a fine save.

Montgomery was next to beat the off side trap when he ran clear on the right before cutting in and shooting low toward the bottom corner, the keeper again was equal to it as he parried clear with no one following up the re-bound.

Derby had a decent attempt on goal from a free kick but despite looking the more likely scorers it wasn't to be as the half drew to a close.

The second half was much like the first. Dollingstown forced Seapatrick back but each time the final pass and shot was missing.

Thompson had a couple of half chances as he shot wide when well placed. It was comfortable at the back for Town with Seapatrick lacking firepower themselves. Indeed Davy Crawford in goal was a virtual spectator as the away side failed to register a shot on target in the entire match.

On 70 mins Moffett had the best chance of the half when he rose unmarked to meet a Walker cross only for his header to miss the target.
