firmus will begin construction of the pipeline from Coleraine to Bushmills in the New Year to allow Bushmills Distillery to convert and take advantage of the significant financial savings and environmental benefits provided by natural gas.

The extension will also bring natural gas to a number of quarries in the Coleraine area and will allow hundreds of existing homes and SMEs in the area to connect to natural gas which currently provides savings of around 30% against home heating oil1.

Neil Gallagher, acting construction manager for firmus energy explains:“Thousands of customers in Coleraine and Ballymena are already reaping the rewards of connecting to natural gas from firmus energy and with this a multi-million pound extension to our pipeline, we are delighted that even more customers, domestic and commercial, will be able to make substantial savings on their current energy costs.”

firmus energy will work closely with DRD Roads’ Service to plan and co-ordinate these works.
