Fire Chief Assistant Dale awarded Queen’s Medal

Dale, who is based at the NIFRS headquarters in Lisburn, has been recognised for his service, professionalism and courage in protecting the community from fires, road traffic collisions and other specialist rescue incidents.

His wide range of responsibilities has included delivery of Fire Prevention and Fire Protection activities; he is also responsible for Road Safety, Emergency response and Health and Safety.

Dale, an active member of the Chief Fire Officer’s Association (CFOA) and a member of the Irish Fire Investigation Association said, “I am personally delighted but I am conscious that we are a big team in the Fire and Rescue Service and I could not function without that team of dedicated professionals.

“I would also like to thank my fantastic family for their support, without which I would simply not be able to do my work.”

Dale has over 27 years’ service and joined the then Northern Ireland Fire Brigade in 1987.

Dale has held a number of operational posts and served as head of health and safety within the organisation and in 2009 he took up the role as Area Commander for Training and Development at NIFRS Training Centre. Dale was promoted to Assistant Chief Fire Officer in February 2012.

Chris Kerr, Chief Fire Officer, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said, “Dale is an excellent ambassador for NIFRS and represents us at regional and national level on fire safety matters. He has also played a leading role in major projects.”
