Film-makers make the final cut in 48-hour film challenge

Dozens of short romantic zombie films were entered into the DV Mission Challenge '“ a competition set up by Southampton Solent University in partnership with Southsea's Wedgewood Rooms.

This year’s challenge saw 31 teams take part, and 26 crossed the finish line.

The challenge required filmmakers to make a two-minute film with the title Night Dreams, using the dialogue ‘We all go a little mad sometimes... haven’t you?’

They were given just 48 hours to come up with a concept, film it and edit it.

After a week spent watching each of the films the judges awarded Pompey Oscars in 13 categories.

The winners were:

BEST FILM (PRO): The Animus Workshop (Southampton)

BEST FILM (NON-PRO): Worcester Massive (Portsmouth)

BEST EDITING: Sanded Down Films (Portsmouth) - UoP team

BEST ACTOR: Red Brook Productions (Andover)

BEST ACTRESS: The Animus Workshop (Southampton)

MOST CINEMATIC MOMENT: AMS (Dartford)

BEST SOUND DESIGN: The Avenue

MOST SURPRISING PROP: Smart Fox Films

MOST ASTONISHING SPECIAL EFFECTS: The Animus Workshop (Southampton)

BEST STORY: Red Brook Productions
