Enjoy a day of free family fun in new look Ballycastle

Ballycastle Town Partnership is encouraging local people and visitors to come along to Ballycastle for an exciting day of free family fun on Saturday 2nd April to celebrate the completion of the town's Revitalisation project.

Internationally acclaimed Naturally North Coast & Glens Artisan Market will open the day with their outdoor artisan market at the car park of the Ramoan Parish Centre in the Diamond area from 11.00am and 3.00pm. Along with their wide range of quality goods on offer, they will also be hosting a basket weaving demonstration.

The Diamond will be the venue for live music from 12.00 noon with local singers and musicians performing, including a special performance from Altnagore from 2pm – 4pm.

For the children there will be a chance to meet Olaf and characters from Minions who are visiting the town for the afternoon. Other activities on offer will include face painting, balloon modelling, a treasure hunt and a children’s craft workshop.

Leo McIlroy, Town Partnership Chairman explains why the event in Ballycastle will be the perfect day out for locals and visitors alike.

“Ballycastle has lots to offer visitors and is well known as a place to explore because of its diverse heritage and culture as well as a place to shop and stop for a bite to eat or drink. With the completion of the Revitalisation project, it is now looking better than ever and we are delighted to host such a fantastic event in celebration.

This is a great opportunity for people to get together and enjoy family fun and we would ask everyone to make it a day out and to spread the word far and wide to invite others to join in the entertainment.”

Donal Cunningham, Chair of The Revitalise Ballycastle Steering Group explained the purpose of the group. “We were formed to manage the Ballycastle Revitalisation Projects, projects which has significantly improved the appearance of the town’s shop frontages and helped maintain the special historical character of our built heritage.

The local traders are very appreciative of the financial support provided through DSD and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in helping achieve this. We are confident that the improvements will be a significant boost for businesses in the town and marks the beginning of an even busier and brighter future for the area.”
