Endangered animals including tiger’s head seized in police raid

A stash of endangered species has been found during a police hunt of the Lurgan area yesterday.

A number of stuffed animals were discovered including a tiger’s head, a wolverine, shark jaw, bear claws and various species of birds..

A specialists squad from the PSNI Wildlife Liaison Unit, the National Crime Agency and the Scottish Wildlife Criminal Investigation Unit helped Lurgan’s Neighbourhood Policing Team search the Lurgan area for the items.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The search was conducted in relation to the import/export, sale and distribution of species protected by the Control of Trade in Endangered Species regulations 1997.

“We seized a number of items. Our enquiries are ongoing at this time but we’ll keep you posted with progress.”
