“Since first becoming elected in 2001, I have consistently fought to achieve better broadband services across the area and have worked with broadband providers and government to ensure that many people across Mid Ulster enjoy some of the best telecoms services in the UK,” said Mr McCrea.

“I accept that there are areas of Mid Ulster where a fixed line solution is not possible for technical and commercial reasons however, it is important that all other alternative solutions are considered to ensure that everyone has access to broadband.

“It is well known that I have consistently lobbied for additional investment from both government and telecoms providers to ensure higher speed broadband services are delivered as widely as possible across Mid Ulster.”

He added: “I want to commend the DUP DETI Minister Arlene Foster MLA for making rural broadband a priority within her department and I will continue to work alongside Arlene as her Assembly Private Secretary (APS) to ensure that broadband is available to every household in Mid Ulster.”
