Education Authority youth service awards

Over 140 youth leaders received personal and professional development awards at an Education Authority Youth Service event.

The presentation evening, part of the EA’s ongoing youth leader development programme, took place at Glengormley Youth Centre on Wednesday June 11.

“The Education Authority Youth Service is keen to continue the development of its young people and adult leaders,” said Francis Loughlin, Acting Area Youth Officer for the Newtownabbey, Carrick and Larne area.

“A comprehensive training programme is offered each year to all part-time youth workers and uniformed organisation leaders. This presentation night is a result of this developmental training and marks a further milestone in their continued personal and professional development.

“I congratulate and commend all leaders who successfully completed courses and qualifications. It demonstrates the huge commitment and dedication of youth leaders in the area.”

The special Danny Nolan Award fordemonstrating consistently high standards of work in young people’s social development was presented to Ballyduff Club CC, led by senior youth worker Alwyn Honan. The winners developed and delivered a youth work programme for younger children in the area.
