Dunmurry singers a hit at Carson Awards
The pupils were among the guests at the eighth annual Carson Awards ceremony, held at Hazelwood Integrated College, where the children enjoyed huge success with the film they had made based on their song “We’re all about That Peace.”
The Carson Awards scheme is run by the Integrated Education Fund and offers prizes and bursaries for arts project.

Hide AdThe Awards are named after the renowned Northern Ireland comedian, the late Frank Carson and his son Tony who funds the scheme, which invites young people to devise projects on the theme of integration.
At the ceremony Tony Carson announced that he would continue his support for the IEF with further funding of E100,000.
The Fund is delighted and grateful for this generous donation to help our work to grow integrated education in Northern Ireland.
The Oakwood IPS children created a movie on iPad when they were in P5 and sang all their own backing music. They won first prize for Key stage 2 pupils.

Hide AdThe audience at Hazelwood IC enjoyed music and film from integrated schools all over Northern Ireland before trophies and certificates were presented by actor and director Dan Gordon and Majella Carson, Frank’s daughter.
Guests also heard from Baroness May Blood, IEF Campaign Chair.
The Carson Awards are split into two categories - the Carson bursaries and the Carson Prize.
