Twenty-two-year-old Nathan Morrow, Drumnamoe Gardens, Lurgan, was fined £250, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and given six points for driving without insurance on December 23.

He already had six live points on his licence and on the tot up system he was banned for six months.

For failing to produce his licence to police within seven days he was fined £40.

The court heard the offences came to light when he was stopped on the Lough Road in Lurgan.

A solicitor for the defendant said he believed he was insured.

She explained that Morrow had been stopped on December 23 and the following day he got a letter from his insurance company saying his policy had been cancelled on December 19.

If he had received this letter earlier he would not have been driving, she added.
