Donemana women hold annual service

DONEMANA Presbyterian Women held their annual service on Sunday last, March 8.

The theme for this service was the PW theme for this year, 'All Things New'. The choir and PW members, accompanied by Mrs Linda Kennedy-McNeill on the organ, began with an Introit called 'A new commandment, I give unto you'.

Mrs Patricia Jones, the President of Donemana PW, led the service with members of the P.W. participating throughout. After several scriptural sentences and a prayer, Mrs Bella Miller read Psalm 96.

The guest speaker at the service was Dianne Lecky, from Ray. She gave the children's address. Dianne has been a volunteer with Samaritan's Purse in Donegal for a number of years. She told the congregation about organising shoeboxes in Donegal filled with goodies and practical objects for children and young people. She informed everyone about her trip to Romania shortly before Christmas to deliver the boxes.

Prayers of Intercession

Mrs Angela Hamilton led the prayers of intercession, after which the choir along with members of the PW sang the anthem, 'When Trials Come' which was written by Keith and Kristyn Getty, renowned Christian musicians from Northern Ireland.

The choice of congregational hymns included 'New every morning is the love', 'Thank You Jesus' and 'Sing to God new songs of worship'. Judith Allen, on the flute, accompanied Mrs Linda Kennedy-McNeill in a number of the hymns.

Jean Rutherford read the second scripture reading from 1 John 3:16-24.

Members of the PW, Isobel Scott, Joan Smyth, Lorraine Smyth, Joy Holmes, Noelle Holmes and Karen Holmes collected the offering.

After a prayer of thanks Dianne gave a very informative address. It was very interesting to learn about Dianne's journey to Romania to deliver the shoeboxes.

After the final hymn, 'Filled with compassion for all creation', Mrs Jones brought the service to a close with the benediction.
